Gervonta “Tank” Davis TKOs Rolando Romero In 6th Round

Gervonta Davis backed up everything he said in interviews and press conferences leading up to his fight with Rolando Romero. He ended up knocking out Rolly in the 6th round, leaving him with shaky legs in which he would be unable to continue the fight.

The ref made the decision to halt the bout with only a few moments left in the 6th. Before the TKO, Romero exhibited surprising poise and patience. He used his reach fairly well (as well as he possibly could considering his novice status) and maintained an admirable patience, up until his fated demise.

Davis even taunted Rolly after the first round ended yelling, “what happened to the first round?” Referring to the prediction Rolly had which included Tank getting knocked out in the first. Rolly could be seen throwing wildly at times, looking a bit misdirected and lost. Davis was patient with himself right from the jump. He wasn’t lunging in too much or exposing himself irresponsibly.

Eventually, Davis would time Rolly and take advantage of Rolly’s tendency to telegraph and leave himself wide open. Davis would then catch Rolly with a crisp, short left hook that put him away for good.
