Manny Pacquiao is currently facing a multi-million-dollar lawsuit filed by Paradigm Sports Management for a breach of contract. The lawsuit includes an injunction to stop the Spence fight from happening in August and seeks to collect the $3.3 million advancement that Paradigm paid to Pacquiao.
Pacquiao had previously agreed to do business with Paradigm Sports Management and according to their CEO Audie Attar, was in the process of securing a fight with Mikey Garcia. Despite such negotiations, Pacquiao ultimately decided to face Errol Spence instead. The promotion is claiming major economic loss due to the fight with Garcia falling through. Before negotiations of a fight with Garcia started, Paradigm had hopes of a matchup between Pacquiao and Connor McGregor, which also fell through after McGregor’s loss to Dustin Poirier.
Paradigm Sports feels that they were done wrong by Pacquiao and as a result, are suffering economic and reputational damages that are incalculable. Despite the lawsuit, Pacquiao continues to train and prepare for Errol Spence Jr. on August 21st.
