Sylvester Stallone is getting back into the boxing ring. Thankfully, for the love of Mickey, it’s not for another Rocky movie. The filmmaking legend is teaming up with DAZN for a series of boxing documentaries entitled One Night, that will focus on memorable fights in recent history.
Stallone’s Balboa Productions and the boxing streaming site’s first feature doc will aptly focus on Andy Ruiz’s Rocky-esque upset over Anthony Joshua, which made the heavy underdog the first Mexican-American heavyweight champion.
”My Hollywood script came to life that historic June night when unknown boxer Andy Ruiz achieved a victory that shocked the world. It was the real- life Rocky and the perfect story to kick off our partnership with DAZN,” Stallone said. “There is nothing like the world of boxing … the drama, the humanity, the agony, and the ecstasy. This sport reveals the souls of these courageous warriors like no other sport can so it’s a privilege to be very involved with DAZN and their revolutionary programming.”
One Night: Joshua vs. Ruiz is directed by Deirdre Fenton and will premiere Wed., Nov. 20 on DAZN and the DAZN YouTube channel, which just so happens to be two weeks before the much-anticipated December 7 Joshua vs. Ruiz rematch also on DAZN.
