Tank Davis: “Rolly is Not Awkward, He’s Just a Dumb Ass Fighter”

Gervonta Davis and Rolando Romero gave their final press conference in front of a New York crowd earlier today in which more heated exchanges were had.

There’s a distinctive difference in the trash talk expressed by both fighters. Both are genuine and equal in distaste for one another, but where one enjoys an easier time in getting the words out, the other tends to act in a more inward manner, devoid of smart trash talking.

Part of Rolly’s allure is his ability to trash talk in a humorous manner. It helps that he’s not shy of sharing his unfiltered beliefs about other fighters. Rolly has already amassed a cult-like following because of his personality. His character lends itself to an easily digestible persona that this type of sport eats right up.

Tank on the other hand, holds a different stock than Rolly does. Tank’s is purely dependent on his skills and talent inside the ring. His reputation for being a killer is what curated his fanbase, which is more significant than Rolly’s. And although Rolly is the self-proclaimed trash talker out of the two, Tank seemed to have gotten more comfortable with taking verbal jabs at Rolly during today’s final presser.

Here’s what Tank had to say when asked about Rolly’s awkward style, “I don’t think he’s an awkward fighter. Awkward is someone – I don’t wanna call no names, but awkward is like different from him. He’s not awkward. We know awkward fighters. Real fighters know awkward fighters. He’s not an awkward fighter, he’s just a dumb ass fighter.”

Rolly responded to Tank’s remarks by asserting that his punching power is what sets him apart, “All Tank does is the same basic, pad work as everybody else. And they all end up getting knocked the fuck out eventually, when they run into a puncher. Just like his big bro, Broner, with Maidana, when he beat Broner. It’s going to be Broner-Maidana II.”

Tank then responded by sharing how Rolly doesn’t have the same skills that Broner has, to which Rolly vehemently disagreed with, of course.

The fight will be certainly entertaining and full of drama, for however long it will last. If Rolly is in great condition, I could foresee this fight going past the halfway mark. But if Rolly thinks he is going to knockout Tank, he may have another thing coming for him.
